Join me in remembering those who take care of our veterans...

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. For my first blog post, I would like to highlight caregivers of veterans and introduce a practical way to provide support!

Caregiving, while a meaningful and rewarding effort, is stressful and requires a great amount of patience and understanding. Unfortunately, stress among caregivers is extremely common. Caregivers often try to do everything by themselves, which eventually leaves them worn out and unable to fully attend to everything they are expected to do.

Online therapy provides the needed accessibility & flexibility to realistically get support to those who have their hands full. Veterans as recipients of care pose unique challenges. Caregivers of veterans who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), engage in domestic violence (DV), have traumatic brain injury (TBI), or mental illness such as depression or anxiety are even more likely to suffer many impacts of caregiving. Cloud Counseling™ can provide a needed space to discuss the strain of caregiving, the impact it is having on work, marriage, children and/or finances, and learn skills to reduce stress. There is less guilt associated with getting help because there is no need to leave loved ones for any amount of time.
Access to help should not be limited to typical business hours and sometimes, a weekly appointment at a certain time and place is just not feasible. Cloud Counseling™, or online therapy, eliminates the hassle.

If you or someone you know is at risk of caregiver burnout, please contact me at [email protected] and I will send you a brief questionnaire to complete.

Happy Memorial Day!

Warmly,

Karissa

Another important consideration is costs. Parents will have to pay to place their children in a childcare centre, and with the financial burdens that families face these days, using relatives to care for children would be a considerable cost saving.
